Online Consultation: The First Step to Thoughtful Treatment
July 15, 2026 · 3 min read
In modern dentistry, an online consultation is a genuine treatment-planning tool. It lets us understand the patient's request, get a handle on the clinical situation, and prepare for the next stages of work — all before the first in-person visit.
Of course, an online consultation doesn't replace a full in-person conversation, but it's a great way to communicate, especially when a client can't physically be at the clinic. This format is particularly valuable for people living in other Ukrainian cities or abroad — it helps efficiently plan not just the treatment, but the trip itself.
Preparing for the Online Consultation
To make the consultation as useful as possible, we ask patients to prepare and provide diagnostic materials in advance. Usually needed: intraoral photos, a facial photo protocol, 3D scans of the dental arches, and a CT scan. The more complete the diagnostic information, the more precisely we can assess the clinical situation and prepare a preliminary treatment plan.
If that's not possible, it's not a dealbreaker. To get started, a few good-quality photos are enough: your smile, a relaxed face, teeth with the mouth open, and the upper and lower jaw. This gives us a sense of the clinical case and lets us start planning.
The Conversation With the Patient
No treatment can happen without understanding what the patient actually wants, which is why the conversation matters most. Our job is to understand what's bothering the client and what result they expect. During online consultations, we also discuss visit schedules: our coordinators help plan the logistics of a stay in Ukraine, including accommodation booking.
Organizing the Next Steps
After analyzing all the materials, we build a preliminary treatment plan, which we present at the next online meeting — explaining each stage in detail, answering questions, and giving you a sense of the timeline and expected result. The final plan is confirmed after an in-person exam and full diagnostics at the clinic, and we make adjustments to individual stages if needed.
It's important to understand: an online consultation isn't just about diagnostics. It's about building a human connection before you even meet in person, getting answers to every question, and making a well-considered decision without any pressure. We firmly believe the best treatment begins when there's trust between the specialist and the patient.
